Mein Sohn hat das Buch verschlungen. Darin sind viele kleine Kriminalfälle, die es zu lösen gilt. Die englischen Sätze werden geschickt übersetzt, sodass neben den interessanten Fällen auch gleich noch Englisch gelernt werden kann.

War für meinen Sohn ein guter Einstieg auch englische Bücher zu lesen. Anfangs hoher Anteil in deutsch, wird aber immer weniger. Verbessert die Englischkenntnisse trotzdem. Die Geschichte war unterhaltsam und lustig.

Unser Sohn liest sehr gerne Krimis.Dadurch das die kurzen englischen Sätze anschließend in der Geschichte übersetzt werden, lernt er sehr schnell die Wörter und Bezeichnungen.Viel mehr Spaß kann Englisch lernen nicht machen.

Allein schon die Namen der gewählten Personen läßt einen schmunzeln. Die Kinder finden es toll und jeden Abend musste ein Kapitel gelesen werden.

Meine Tochter hat das Buch in wenigen Stunden ausgelesen. Sie fand die Geschichte sehr spannend.

Kurze Kapitel, ideal für Lesemuffel, einfaches Englisch mit Übersetzung, und dazu kann man auf den Illustrationen kleine Rätsel knacken.Tolles Buch

Interessant und spannend geschrieben, so daß mein Lesemuffel innerhalb weniger Tage das Buch gelesen hatte. Auch mit geringen Englisch Kenntnissen.

I can only describe it as a meditation on genius through the main character of Leonardo da Vinci, who many consider the world’s greatest mind. The plot is simple: Leonardo is artistically blocked. He must complete his masterpiece, The Last Supper, but cannot conjure the faces of Jesus and Judas (the ultimate Good and Evil). The angel Gabriel comes to him in dreams to help him. What follows is a series of dialogues on the nature of God and humanity, which brought to my mind Hamlet’s quote — “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horacio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”The story plays out on multiple layers. Leonardo’s daily life in Milan details the colliding spheres of politics, religion, and art in this nerve center of the Renaissance. His dream discussions with Gabriel are exquisitely elegant as well as thought-provoking. They soar with brilliance. Niccolo Machiavelli, Leonardo’s friend and confidante, adds a layer of earthiness and political reality as well as support. This book is a literary symphony: every movement works in concert and harmony building to a transcendent crescendo.As other reviewers have said, Leonardo and Gabriel should be mandatory reading in almost any college course. It combines philosophical and religious discussions on the nature of God and man, political debates, an historical depiction of life in Renaissance Italy, and finally, a portrait of an artist in crisis and the psychology of artistic creation. A must-read to treasure.

I loved this novella. It is the most intelligent novel I’ve read. I kept trying to answer Gabrielle’s questions before Leonardo and never could. Engaging, Witty and thought provoking. I just wish there was another 300 pages!

I bought Leonardo and Gabriel on the strength of the glowing reviews. I was dismayed at what a shallow piece of tripe this book is. It's nothing but pseudo-spiritual pop philosophy. There's no real story; the 'frame' of Leonardo working on the painting and interacting with various figures such as Machiavelli and Sforza was just a flimsy prop for the author to set up the self-consciously clever dialogue between Leonardo and the archangel. Honestly, the tremendous 'revelations' of the book were silly and sophomoric, and the ultimate message was nothing more than "use time wisely." (Hint: don't waste it reading this book.) You'd be better off reading some actual philosophy, theology, and physics if you want to investigate these questions deeply. Tigner presents some pretty basic philosophical and theological concepts as if no one has ever thought about these things. For example, he portrays both Leonardo and Machiavelli as flabbergasted by the notion that God isn't an old man with a white beard but rather a genderless force. That idea has been around in various forms since at least the ancient Greeks, and educated Renaissance people were well aware of it. Just ridiculous. Save your money.

It was requested that my parents remove me from Sunday School when I was 9 or 10 years old. This too was in a Presbyterian Church as our Author mentioned he had been raised in. I remember standing in the Sunday school room with my Mother and the teacher was saying..."She asks too many questions, it's disruptive." I still can feel the small smile that came across my face as these two women continued on in a battle of words over how was I ever going to be taught the word of God? I actually remember feeling free for the first time in my young life... You see I also had this wonderful same secret that is revealed to Leonardo and I too could not tell anyone about it. This wonderful exchange between "Leonardo and Gabriel" is about the same feelings and beliefs I have had all my life and had to keep it to myself and I did.Now at the age of 67, I run across this intriguing little book called "Leonardo and Gabriel"... I had tears in my eyes by the the second chapter. I am now reading the book for the second time, but reading it to my husband.Thank you Tim for this gift. I don't have to keep my secret anymore.Bless your Heart.

There are not enough positive words in my lexicon to describe this book! I found myself reading it very slowly so I could get the most out of it. It is extremely thought provoking and a very interesting way to present this important part of history. I just loved the way Tim Tigner portrayed the historical charecters and the big puzzle regarding the portrayal of god. If you like history and are a fan of logic puzzles I highly recommend you take the time to not only read it, but to take the necessary time to fully digest it.

He was the Besl Professor of Ethics/Religion and Society at Cincinnati's Xavier University and is qualified as a teacher in the Sanbo Kyodan tradition of Japanese Buddhism.
